Office Endometrial Ablation Procedure

If heavy menstrual periods interfere with your life, you are not alone. Did you know that three in ten women of reproductive age suffer from heavy periods? This bleeding can be emotionally and physically draining, causing many women to limit their activities and lifestyles. Many options for treatments are available, including drug therapy, minimally invasive treatments, or a hysterectomy.

You may be suffering from excessively heavy periods if any of the following happens regularly to you:

  • Your period lasts longer than 7 days
  • Your period contains blood clots
  • Your period soaks through a tampon or pad every hour for two hours or more

Endometrial ablation is a natural choice for women with heavy periods who are looking for an alternative to a hysterectomy. This reduces or eliminates menstrual periods in most women. This treatment can free you from the limitation and pain of heavy periods without removing your uterus or disrupting your natural hormones. Best of all, the procedure can be performed in only 20 to 30 minutes within our offices suite without being put to sleep.

Permanent Sterilization

What is permanent sterilization?

This is when your doctor either clamps, cuts, ties or blocks your fallopian tubes to prevent any future pregnancies.

We are now offering an effective permanent tubal sterilization procedure that is done right in our office. If you are done with childbearing, and ready to trade in all your temporary birth control, then this simple permanent procedure may be right for you. This procedure is different than the traditional method of tubal ligation or “tying the tubes”. There is no incision on the body. Instead, the doctor inserts a soft and flexible micro insert through the cervix and directly into your fallopian tubes. The procedure can be performed in our office without general anesthesia. Most patients report minimal pain, and can go back to the work the next day. After 3 months, your doctor can send you for and an HSG Confirmation Test, a special type of x-ray to confirm that your tubes are completely blocked.

Unlike birth control pills, patches, rings and some forms of IUDs, there are no hormones. Ask your doctor today for more information about this procedure. You may also visit the Essure website.

Other forms of birth control offered at our office:

  • IUD (Intrauterine Device Paraguard)
  • Laparoscopic tubal ligation – (surgical procedure in the hospital)
  • Post partum tubal ligation (surgical procedure done in the hospital after a vaginal delivery)
  • Tubal ligation at time of C-Section
  • All common types of birth control (injections, rings, patches, Oral pills)
  • Also IUD removal (even if we did not place the IUD)

Hysteroscopy is a diagnostic and surgical procedure that makes examining the inside of the uterus possible without making an abdominal cut. This procedure is used to both diagnose and treat abnormal vaginal/cervical bleeding. During this procedure, a lighted viewing instrument called a hysteroscope is inserted through the vagina and cervix and into the uterus. Treatment is also possible through the hysteroscope at the time of this procedure. If areas of bleeding are found during this procedure, the tissue is then treated. The hysteroscopy is a quick procedure and can be done as an outpatient.
