Teen Care

As young girls mature into teens, it is very important that they receive the appropriate medical care.
A teenage girl should visit a gynecologist between ages 13 and 15, according to the current recommendation by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Most of the times a pelvic exam will not be needed.

A gyn exam may be a source of anxiety, to both the patient and the parent. Knowing what to expect may alleviate some of this stress. The following, amongst other medical concerns, may be addressed during a teenager’s visit to the gynecologist:

  1. Puberty, growth and development
  2. Menstrual Periods
  3. Pelvic Pain
  4. Prevention of sexually transmitted disease (STD’s)
  5. Healthy lifestyle: exercise and nutrition
  6. Immunizations
  7. Weight
  8. Acne
